Final Image - Stepping Stones

Below is the stepping stone photo i created for my series of final images. I will then discuss how i got to that stage and what developments i made along the process.

Originally for this idea, i wanted to have my model climbing up a waterfall like the image below but it just wasn't as strong as the stepping stone images. I found some difficulties with taking these images as when i went back for a second shoot to the place with the water fountain, it had been switched off and wasn't running. This meant i had to use my previous images of the water fall that don't have the greatest focus, and just Photoshop on my model who stood on the water fall whilst it was off. This was because it would have been accurate when i did Photoshop him on and it was in the correct shading of lighting rather than artificial lighting from the studio. Once the water fall was broken andi took pictures of my model on it anyway, they never came out in perfect conditition no mater what apeture i changed it too or setting on the dial. As tou can see they are very unfocused or have a blue filter from the natural light coming through. This made the images look less appealing so i had to come up with a new idea. Seeing the stepping stones encouraged me to try and get him leaping from one to another, so i could use them in this image and in my other 3 final selection images.

First Images

For my first set of images simply just added a few effects and alterations to the  the originally took which would make it look a lot more realistic  as well as exciting to observe. For the first image the fact i have added a simple pathway from Rufford country park is because the scenery and settings go well along side the images of the rocks that i have within the original image of the stepping stones. For the second image i feel that it sets a more exciting and thrilling flower garden that has been carefully cut into. However, i do feel it is cut short around the left had side of the water so it could potentially be used for making the The staircase is elongated and there is more of a sense of adventure as the stairway leads one way and the model is junking away from it to the other. The third image i feel doesn't really look as realistic as i hoped even though it is the image i did want to have created in the first place. To improve it i would have to maybe retake the images so that i had my model really in the water fall whilst it was switched on, or add a lot of contrasting brightness to both the models layer and the waterfall image itself.

 Second images / selection process

Below are my developments from my first set and the debate as to which one looks the best of go along side the rest of my 3 images. The first and second are indeed the same but with a slight difference as i have included all of the right hand side of the natural rocks and bushes that came along with the background image. I prefer this one as the first one has a lot of cut offs and doesn't look like a piece of natural art. The gap under the hedge in the first one looks too empty making the hole image look even more photoshopped. For the last one i have cut out parts of the rocky face where the stepping stones join the path way. This makes them blend together more and look so much more authentic. It has also improved the texture of the image around that section so that the viewer can imagine what it would be like if you missed the step or what the water would feel like as it gives the option for the model to crouch down and put his hands in the water. If i was to improve this image i would certainly add another model, specifically in the last picture where someone is leaning with there hand gliding through the clear water and there is then some one leaping from stone to stone. However the final image i have chosen is the second one as the colours are mooch more complementing and add a lot more brighter naturalistic and authentic effect to the image. It also corners off the stepping stones, suggesting to the audience the only other way out is through following the stones.
